Steubenville San Diego: THIRST - Reflection #2

This Steubenville Conference was my 2nd Steubenville Conference ever. I knew what to expect schedule wise, but not content wise. I had just attended the Couples for Christ Youth Conference, and served at the Couples for Christ Family Conference, so I admit I was a bit drained by the time it came to Steubenville, and I wasn't as excited as I hoped to be. However, upon going through the first night of praise and worship plus a sneak peek of adoration made me feel energized and ready to go.

As the weekend went on, I listened to different talks and workshops given by various people of the Catholic faith, and what amazed me was how powerful of speakers they were. Their words, their voice, truly hit me as I listened to the lessons before me. I think something that I learned that was very memorable was the idea that we don't thirst for Christ, but that Christ thirsts for us. It was something I'd never thought about, and when I first heard that during the weekend, I was truly amazed.

This conference was definitely something that helped wind down my month of conferences, and I was glad I went despite my tiredness. I saw Christ in adoration, and it was the first adoration where I experienced happiness to be in the presence of our Lord, and not sorrow. It was the first adoration where I saw Christ, and didn't feel so sad or sorrowful, but happy because there I was, in His presence. It was an adoration where all my questions were answered even though I didn't ask for them to be. It was an adoration where I truly saw Christ.

I saw Christ in the brothers and sisters who were attending their first conference, and I truly believe the best part of the conference was watching the transformation in the newcomers in our group. Seeing the way they changed throughout the weekend was definitely a blessing, a God sighting, perhaps. I would like to call all Youth to attend this conference when they can, because it's a conference that will truly spark your love for God and teach you the basics of our Catholic faith. Praise God for such a successful weekend!
